ANZAC Round was a huge success for the club and a great day for the community and supporters. Sponsored by Madisons Lawyers, their logo was proudly displayed alongside the ANZAC logo which was a fantastic backdrop to remind us of the importance of the day.

On field the Bloods did not disappoint, finishing the day with 3 great wins.

SENIORS

Warrandyte: 14 . 12 . 96 def.
Whitehorse: 6 . 9 . 45

Coming off the Easter break and giving numerous players a chance to come back from injury we saw 6 players making their way back into the senior 22, including the much anticipated first game of jack grimes. On a stirring ANZAC round we hosted Whitehorse, the crowd was there as both sides lined up arm in arm and payed their respects.

The first bounce was special with three of the Grimes boys and their brother in law lining up for the first time together in the centre square. The emphasis of the day was to bring everything back to basics and ramp up the enjoyment. It certainly paid off as there were some magnificent passages of play with flair and excitement as we controlled the game from start to finish with absolutely every player doing their bit and playing a role.

It was a great win on a very special day

RESERVES

Warrandyte: 12 . 4 . 76 def.
Whitehorse: 3 . 6 . 24

A very slow start in the first half of football only kicking 2 goals to 1. The Bloods were given a lively piece of feedback on the first half and the coaches demanded a response.

A much better second half followed, we controlled the footy with some fantastic team work that resulted in us kicking 5 goals in the 3rd quarter and another 5 goals in the last.

All in all it was good to get our first win on the board, and we showed some great sings going forward.

U19’S

Warrandyte: 14 . 15 . 99
Forest Hill: 2 . 2 . 14

The Under 19’s had a different opponent, playing at home against Forest Hill with both teams coming in undefeated. The first quarter was a hard fought contest with Forest Hill throwing everything at the young Bloods.

The boys stuck to the game plan, broke down the Forest Hill attack and the resulting rebound footy was great to watch. The bloods got on top towards the end of the first half and never looked back.

We are now 3-0, what a great start to the season!
