U19s 17.3-105 FINAL 2.4-16 Coldstream

On a near perfect day, it was great to be back at the home deck. It was with great pleasure to have 3 debutants from the 17’s Sam, Neils and Brandon. Who all gave great value to our side in different ways.
From the get go the boys started well, doing the one percenters time and time again. The back 6 were strong all day only conceding 16 points. Peter laid some great blocks and provided plenty of run and drive off the halfback.
The midfielders were tackling and pressuring the ball very well, while Sam and Neils were providing some great tap work out of the middle.
Up forward, everyone was constantly on the move, allowing plenty of space to be created in the forward line. Ed was the beneficiary of this kicking 5 majors for the day.
The boys 2nd, 3rd follow up efforts from the boys were exceptional all day. To Coldstream’s credit, they fought until the end and never gave up. It took 24 players playing their role to get the win, which everyone did for the day.
We now reset and move all of our attention to Donvale, who are sitting on top of the ladder.

Reserves 24.23-167 FINAL 2.1-13 Coldstream

The sun was out at the Blood Bank and we as a group wanted to work to achieve a full 4 quarter effort, we spoke of Coldstream recent results of pushing sides and went in with a mindset of not having everything on our terms. Coldstream were strong around the contest early and had some big bodies especially in the Ruck, but we were able to find our rhythm pretty quickly and got to work. Our mids led by belly and noons won the contested ball and our forwards had plenty of space to lead into – Dunny and Coxy both finishing with a few goals, Jack willo put the game to bed with 3 and 1/2 goals in the third with a best on ground performance – showing his brothers that he can play too… Unfortunately, the Coldstream guys lost a few guys late but we thank them for their efforts. We move onto donvale this week and boy- we can’t wait!!

Seniors 11.11-77 FINAL 11.7-73 Coldstream

Back on our home ground and another nail biter against a top 4 side!
Saturday saw Coldstream visit the Blood Bank in what shaped as a hot contest pitting 2 vs 3 on the ladder as well as the Bloods coming off a poor loss the week before.
The entire game was an arm wrestle but thankfully we came out 4 point winners to stay 2nd on the ladder.
It was an even contest in the first half with Coldstream’s accuracy giving them an early lead which was still held at half time after an even 2nd. 20 minutes of football that excited the big crowd in the 3rd quarter saw us kick 6.5 to 1.2 in the 3rd with a huge lift in our work rate. Knowing the game was still in the balance we missed a few opportunities to put it to bed and as good sides do, Coldstream kept coming. In a frantic finish with Coldstream attacking, the final siren was a delightful sound as we now hold wins by under a goal against the other top 4 teams at home.
Donvale managed a victory also on Saturday which saw them jump into 3rd which means for the 2nd week in a row we face a 2nd vs 3rd contest, see you out at Donvale to get behind the boys!
