Round 7 was always going to be a tough one against a largely undefeated Belgrave South football club. We ventured out on what was tipped to be a wet and windy day to find surprisingly perfect conditions for football.
SENIORS
Warrandyte: 9 . 8 . 63 def. by
South Belgrave: 18 . 11 . 119
After travelling to South Belgrave to take on the undefeated ladder leaders there was a sense of excitement in the air with the inclusion of four new Bloods.
Unfortunately that’s where it ended – this week we were disappointing. With so much to gain we were unfortunately out played by a very experienced and slick outfit.
We had to make the most of all our opportunities, but we were sloppy with our ball use and wasteful with our shots on goal. With that said there are great signs for the future with the young bloods.
We need to stand and deliver next week.
RESERVES
Warrandyte: 5 . 5 . 35 def. by
South Belgrave: 24 . 12 . 156
Coming up against the best side in the comp, it would be a chance for us to see where we were at. A really good 1st quarter and a reasonable half of footy had the Bloods feeling positive.
Unfortunately, we left our intensity in the rooms at half time. South Belgrave came out and really put their foot down in the 2nd half, which was really disappointing. In the end we simply just ran out of legs and let them run all over us.
U19’S
Warrandyte: 7 . 9 . 51 def. by
South Belgrave: 13 . 13 . 91
Conditions again were perfect for football with the most anticipated match between both undefeated teams. This game was going to be a test for the undermanned Bloods.
From the first bounce South Belgrave were on their toes and the Warrandyte boys were on their heels getting lead to the ball. The boys found it hard to adjust and focus on the task at hand must have been the Altitude.
Our game plan was left at Warrandyte and simple skill errors cost us dearly. We will learn from this, heads up boys its only round 7 of 18.
DON’T FORGET – WFC Rock Cover Night next Saturday. Come back to the club from 7pm on Saturday foe some fantastic live music and good times.
