Round 8 was an extremely important one for the Bloods coming off some tough losses over the past few weeks. The resulting 3 wins were just what the doctor ordered, bringing our season back on track.
We also had our “WFC Rock night” function, thanks to those who attended and helped make it a great night for all!
SENIORS
Warrandyte: 11 . 4 . 70
Glen Waverley: 4 . 9 . 33
Coming off two straight losses we really needed to bounce back. We headed over to Glen Waverley to take on the hawks – they genuinely had a belief that we were ripe for the picking.
Although the game was not fantastic and at times quite ugly, we got the job done and we ran out a comfortable 36 point winners. Chris tout a standout and with a number of our on ballers playing well, we managed to take the points. Looking forward to the break and getting a chance to freshen up.
RESERVES
Warrandyte: 10 . 8 . 68
Glen Waverley: 6 . 8 . 44
Warrandyte began slowly, giving up a one goal quarter time lead which had us on the back foot. A really good second quarter by the whole group was inspiring and would give us the narrow of margins in front at half time.
The second half really showed what we can produce, with the boys playing with passion and desire. Many of our younger players took a big step forward and stepped up in key moments to allow us to run away with the game. We were down to only one on the bench by the end, and it was really pleasing that they never gave up.
Great win Bloods!
U19’S
Warrandyte: 13 . 16 . 94
Fair Park: 4 . 9 . 33
Conditions again were perfect for football and the U19 game been relocated to our home ground. Fair Park have had some big wins so this game was going to be a test again for the undermanned Bloods.
With Warrandyte Only having 17 Players and our opponents having 24 available we really needed to stick to our game plan. Warrandyte setup the game in the first and second quarter and played good controlling football.
After half time Warrandyte started playing individual football and started blazing away which was somewhat disappointing. We need to regroup and stick to the game plan moving forward, but we are sitting at 7-1 with room to improve.
